Sons of the South measures 16” x 20” and is a framed original oil painting on canvas with COA signed by Patric Curtis (Baby Beau).
This portrait of Ashley Wilkes aknd his son, baby Beau Wilkes, are portrayed by Leslie Howard and Patrick Curtis. In reality, Patrick’s parents were good friends of Clark Gable, who played ‘Uncle Rhett Butler.’ His hidden image is in Ashley’s waist scarf. In the book “Rhett Butler’s People,” Rhett gives Scarlett the fabric from which she makes the scarf - as a present to her beloved Ashley. Patrick has often shared a story of riding in Gable’s 1949 Jaguar XK120. As a nod to Patrick and Gable, the car has been hidden in the bottom of the painted frame.
