What are the payment channels for the new Mexican tax?
Before traveling to a foreign territory, it is useful to find out about the mandatory formalities to be provided. Today, travelers who have as their destination Quintana, Mexico must find out about the new tax. Whether it is for vacation, business purposes, or a medical visit, a tax is required. At what point should the tax be paid then?
Visitax: what is it ?
The State of Mexico has created the tax to visitors to the Quintana region. Tourist Tax Mexico went into effect on April 1, 2021, approved by foreigners and the Mexican region. It is imposed on any foreigner over four (04) years and visiting Playa del Carmen, the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Aventuras and Puerto Morelos, Tulum, Cancun, and Cozumel. It is in fact a tourist tax to improve the environmental and other experiences of the travelers. The tax is mandatory, as proof of payment must be shown before leaving the area. It costs only 244 pesos, or about 10 euros.
Online payment by PayPal or credit card
The online payment is done in three clicks by filling out a form. You just need to fill in the fields with names, age, and valid passport number. It is also necessary to provide an email account in order to receive the proof of payment of the tax. Obviously, a credit card is required to pay the service. Through a secure payment, the amount is deducted from the PayPal account, or credit card.
Paying at the airport in Cancun and Cozumel
It is also possible to pay the tax at the airport in Cancun before arrival or upon arrival in Quintana but before departure. The procedure is the same as the online payment.
